Feeling Successful From Within: Hanna’s ADHD Coaching Story

Hanna, executive with ADHD coaching client

Hanna was a clinical psychologist with ADHD. She was kind-hearted and ambitious.

Hanna wanted to set up her own clinic, but she’d never quite felt like an adult when it came to managing money, people, or herself.

She wondered, “How can I balance my work and family life? How can I be present in both places without work bleeding into my home life?”

Her emotions were dictating her choices – with erratic results.

Hanna came to coaching because she wanted to enjoy more emotional regulation.

No matter how successful she had become, she still felt like something was missing. She wanted to feel her success on the inside. She deeply wanted to feel proud and happy with herself.

Hanna’s Challenge

ADHD had been fueling Hanna’s emotional reactivity. It left her second-guessing everything she did in a day. She identified with her overwhelm and difficulty getting started. She believed the inner story that she didn’t know what she was doing.

This inaccurate story led her to either put off decisions or make them too quickly. The inconsistent results reinforced her belief that she didn’t know what she was doing.

Hanna’s Breakthrough

Hanna slowed everything right down.

In coaching, she reflected on decisions she’d already made and she countered the negative stories. She began to see that she had choices.

When she slowed down before making decisions, her choices became aligned with her values – not her emotional state of the moment. This deliberate approach had a huge impact on the way she showed up for her staff and family.

Letting go of the story that there was something wrong with her – that she didn’t know what she was doing – shifted everything for her.

Hanna’s Results

The feeling that something was missing completely disappeared.

Hanna began to speak with more confidence and more cadence. She was more self-assured. She communicated more clearly with her staff and her family.

Hanna shared with me that she could now feel her success fully 10/10. She managed her money boldly and experienced an abundance that she had not felt before.

Best of all, she shared that she felt emotionally regulated. She went from a 4/10 to 9/10!

Hanna had bravely found her own power.

On our last day together she said to me, “I used to believe I had to sacrifice myself for my business. Now I know to feel abundant in the present.”
